Hi, I'm new to these forums. I would like to start by saying "Hi" to everyone. I have ordered a K700i On Vodafone Contract. Infact it should be here in a few hours. I ordered it on the 31st. I was wondering what firmware It would have on it. I was also wondering if it had an early firmware version on how would I go about getting it upgraded to the latest. I'm not bothered about getting rid of the vodafone branding I just want all the bugs fixed. I was reading an article on these forums that shows this phone has a lot of bugs. Im in the UK. Do you think that If I went into a Carphone Warehouse or a Vodafone shop they would upgrade it to the R2L firmware for me. I was looking for the nearest Sony Ericcson Service Center near me but there isnt one for miles. Im in the UK by the way. Any help on this subject would be greatly appriciated. Thanks In advance.

welcome to Esato

my suggestion would be to get the phone in your hands, charge it and use it. When you have used it for a while you can decide if anything mentioned in threads here on Esato is really a big deal for you rather than worrying about it beforehand. Obviously it hasn't put you off and probably when you start using it you will find its not all that big a deal anyway

I haven't heard that the vodafone branded firmware has been updated yet so probably there is not much you can do until Vodafone release such an update

I've had my K700 (unbranded) since it was available and I'm still totally happy with it

So its probably an old version. I'm just worried about the battery life.

I really would stop worrying until you actually get and try the phone. This might all be an non issue (as it is with my K700)

i dont really see the problem...i mean if u can charge evry nite then its okay!

u could go for this, its an extra bettery and charger. About £10 delivered so you can use 1 battery whilst the other is on charge

If I were concerned about battery life and firmware bugs I guess I wouldn't choose a phone known to have those very issues... This message was posted from a T68i

I have to side with masseur. Best get a feel of the phone and find out which of the huge selection actually become an issue for you. I know of K700 vodafone models that have no issues at all
