i have just got myself a bluetooth adaptor for my lap top so i can transfer the files across. Can someone tell me what to do, i have downloaded the sony ericsson software to my lap top and im going to download the adaptor software to my laptop too. Once i have done that what do i do, do i just plug in the adaptor then open the sony ericsson package on my laptop then search for devices on my phone?

To synchronize the phone via Bluetooth, you have to use the local serial port of the PC Bluetooth equipment. Activate the COM port in both the PC Bluetooth software and in the Phone Monitor.
The phone must be paired with the PC prior to activating the correct COM port. The procedures and names below may differ depending on Bluetooth software and operating system.
1. In the PC, select START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > BLUETOOTH PLACES
2. Select VIEW DEVICES IN RANGE or VIEW ENTIRE BLUETOOTH NEIGHBORHOOD
3. Double-click the phone you are using.
4. Double-click BLUETOOTH SERIAL PORT 1 and make a note of the COM port number used.
5. In certain Bluetooth software. you may also have to activate the COM port. From BLUETOOTH PLACES, select MY DEVICE > BLUETOOTH SERIAL PORT > PROPERTY, and activate the COM port.
6. Go back to CONTROL PANEL, click PHONE MONITOR OPTIONS and enable the right COM port number.
NOTE: You can find more information and tips in the ReadMe.txt file. It is normally located in C:Program FilesSony EricssonMobile.

To create a Bluetooth connection for synchronization/Image Editor/MMS Studio, you may have to connect the Bluetooth Serial Port to your mobile phone first. Due to the fact that there are many proprietary software for Bluetooth devices by its manufacturers, we are unable to provide a detailed guide for each brand and model. Please refer to the user guide of your Bluetooth Device for usage instructions. You may use the steps below as a reference.
1. Open My Bluetooth Place (Found on the desktop or the right menu
in Bluetooth icon in system tray).
2. Double click on My Device.
3. Right click on My Bluetooth Serial Port and select Properties.
Check which COM port is set. Remember this COM port.
4. Right click the Phone Connection Link icon in the system tray
and select Properties. (Only for P800/P900)
5. Now make sure the COM port found above is selected. (Only for P800/P900)
6. Close Link Properties. (Only for P800/P900)
7. Go to My Bluetooth Place and double click on Find Bluetooth
Device (or Search for devices in range).
8. An icon will appear for each Bluetooth device found. Right click
on the icon with the name you have given your phone and select
Pair Device.
9. Type a code for example ‘123’ and then click Ok.
10. After a while a dialogue is asking for a passkey on the phone.
Type the same code as above and tap Done.
Now your phone and computer are paired.
The following steps shall be done when you want to connect your phone.
If you have just paired your phone and computer then your phone is
set to Discoverable. Normally when you like to connect the phone it
is recommended to be set to On.
11. In Control Panel double click on Phone Monitor Options.
12. Click on COM Ports and ensure that the relevant COM Port has been
enabled (you may enable all if you are not sure).
13. In My Bluetooth Place right click the icon for your phone and
select Connect Bluetooth Serial Port. If this menu item doesn’t
exist then you shall select Discover Available Services. From now
you will have this menu item. Go back and select it.
14. You will get a Connection Request dialogue on your phone.
Tap Accept. The phone icon and the Bluetooth icon in the system
tray turns green to indicate that the phone is connected.
15. Now you might get a dialog telling you that the Bluetooth
Serial Port failed: The remote device closed the connection.
This is correct behaviour. (Only for P800/P900)
16. If this is the very first time you connect this device you will
get a wizard asking for a name (Go ahead with this wizard).
Otherwise you are connected and a phone icon will show up in
system tray.
Now your phone is connected and you can start to synchronize or
transfer files.
Tip: You can also connect the phone from the system tray icon.
Select Quick Connect -> Bluetooth Serial Port

right i have downloaded the software, on the main start up screen i have a folder called my phones, i double click on that and it has a pic of a pad with a question mark on it saying not connected. Where do i go from here? thanks a lot for your help with this anyway

don't need to use my phones, that is for cable connections.
If you are using xp, you should be able to right click on the file, and go send to>bluetooth>k700 or >other if you havn't paired the phones.
If not go to my bluetooth places, double click on your phone, press Ctrl+C on the file, go to the main folder on your phone, press Ctrl+V and that will copy the file across.
Also read what ben wrote about pairing phones as this will save you time in the long run.
