hey

my p800 all of a sudden keeps saying 'insert sim card' and it wont let me do anything until i turn my phone off and then on again (and yes there is a sim card in my phone! ) this has been happening for the last few days.

as far as i know it hasnt been dropped or exposed to liquid or anything else which may cause it to fault (im v v careful with my phone)

im pretty sure its still in warrenty, does this sound like SE will either repair or give me a new phone under warrenty?

or does anyone know why dis has occured?
am i right in saying its a fault with the phone and not the sim card?

plz plz help

thanks

Either SIM too old(bad metal connection), or SIM holder not tight. This message was posted from a P800

Yeah, i have the same problem but i know my sim is at fault coz i tried i another phone. its an old genie sim about 2 1/2 years old. Do you reckon if ring up o2 they would send me a new sim with the same number? and would they charge me?

Phone up and ask. You could also try GENTLY cleaning your SIM card and phone contacts (use a cotton bud and a little diluted lemon juice). This message was posted from a T68i

yea i could phone o2 but i know what would happen:
o2:"Hi, you are being charged 50ppm for this call, how can i tell you to get lost nicely?"

Me:" can i get a new sim card with the same number?"

02: "im gonna put you on hold for a minute"

(on hold for ten minutes while he has a cup of tea and a biscuit)

o2: "sorry i will have to ring another department to find out. i will ring you back with an answer in 6 and a half years."

@Nature - I see your point? Email them? Pop in to an O2 shop? I have a feeling that pointing out to them that if they don't give you a free replacement you'll go over to voda and transfer the number might get you what you want. This message was posted from a T68i

I don't know about porting PAYG. I'm sure O2 won't want to loose you and you'll get a replacement with no problem. This message was posted from a T68i

my sim card isnt old at all, i only changed it a few months ago
is it possible it could be that theres somithing wrong with the phone or is it most likely the sim card? coz i really dont wanna send my phone away unless i HAVE to, also, if i did send my phone away, would SE provide me with another till mine is sorted out, i really cant go like 2 weeks without a phone
