> K700i text as mms problem
Bookmark topic
Have enjoyed playing with my new K700i today but have run into a problem with text messaging. Have had a browse round but haven't seen this anywhere else so apologies if it has been discussed already - any help gratefully received!
Whenever I go to write a new message, it defaults to a picture message rather than a text message. So I can add text but only as part of an MMS and clearly I don't want to be sending lots of unnecessary pic messages rather than text messages. The manual tells me to go to the home screen, push the action button left and select text message, but I don't have that - on my home screen I have the three icons Phone / Messages / Orange World. If I click New Message then it gives me an MMS, and if I go through the main menu it does the same.
If I go into the main menu, then messages / settings all I have are
Message alert
Picture msg
Push
The only thing I can think is that somehow the phone isn't set up to send text messages, though I have no idea how this could be. Any ideas?

that does seem wierd. When you go to write new, it should come up with a pop-up box with the options text or picture.
Also in the settings there should be options, the 3 you said + Text message, Area info and voicemail number.
If your phone is orange branded take it back to them can complain, as there is clearly something wrong with your phone (unless somebody knows a solution)

Problem solved - it was Orange and not the phone, for some reason they hadn't sent me the right sim updates (cheers guys).
