Can you copy a contact from your phone to your sim OK?

I have the same problem! I have had my P900 since they were released and it has started in the last couple of months. I believe it may be that the contacts are not properly connecting with the SIM. I can make the SIM read by one of two methods (both are painful and may have to be repeated several times!):
- Turn the phone off and on until the SIM actually reads
- Take the plastic battery cover off, then press the battery in hard into the corner of the SIM card whilst rebooting the phone (it helps to be an Octopus to do this). When the phone has rebooted, replace the battery cover making sure the battery does not fall out.
This is a really annoying problem and whilst I am sure it doesn't help you it is intesting that I am not suffering alone!

I too am having the same problem. I just got this phone today and its EXTREMELY frustrating not to be able load my contacts. There is NO WAY I'm manually putting in about 100 contacts into my phone. Can someone help? Is this a firmware or hardware problem? I've tried the 2 things previously suggested in the thread to no avail. ANY help would be much appreciated.

To the people still having problems. I actually solved this problem in the early hours of this morning after staying up all night because this thing was irking me to death. Anyway, it's not a problem with the phone AT ALL. The problem lies soley in the sim card. I had my sim card from my old service provider (it had all of the same contacts) and decided I would pop it in the phone in order to test to see if the problem lied with the phone. When I went to go read from the sim, the phone read all the contacts in like 10 seconds and I was good to go. I saved the names to my contacts list and popped in my '"defective" sim and all is well now. So i'm not sure if you guys have sim cards lying around with your contacts, but if you do and its not defective, I would recommend using them. And if you only have the one card you can either a) get a new one or b) clean the card. I read on an old post that in order to clean it you would GENTLY use an eraser and rub/erase the sim card and then just brush the card off. Hope this helps.

regarding this problem I re-updated my p900 from the sony ericsson site (firmware update) and I tried reading the contacts on the SIM card and it worked (they displayed afta a few seconds). After this I restored my backup i did before re-updating the firmware and tried reading the contacts on the SIM card and I can no longer read them.just get the 'Reading SIM card' message indefinately so it must be something to do with some software installed or something.any ideas?
