> T-Mobile internet plans in USA

hello,
would someone please explain the REAL different among these three internet plans from T-Mobile.
currently i have the unlimited t-zones and i can use the default browser for some of the wap sites, i can use Opera to browse
www.yahoo.com,
www.easato.com...etc and i can use agile messenger and check pop3 mails.
so, any reason why anyone would need the $9.99 or $19.99 plan?

I'm surprised to hear that you can access POP3 email with the $4.99 plan. T-Mobile told me you can only do it with the $9.99 plan. That is supposed to be the difference between those two plans.
I believe the $19.99 plan is if you have a GPRS card for your laptop. Then you can browse internet with your laptop wirelessly. It's at GPRS speed so don't expect high speed.

4.99 and 9.99 have no difference. they will both work just fine. but are limited to port 80.
so you can access pop3/imap4, WAP, and most HTML sites. but you won't be able to stream video/audio and access secure https sites. for those you will need the $19.99 plan which has all ports enabled, and not just port 80 like the 4.99 and 9.99 plans.

Can't we open up the ports ourselves on the computer?.... I guess we can..... all we need to do is open up the ports in firewall settings....

yup, i can definitely pull in my pop3 mail with the $4.99 plan with T-mobile. i really like using agilemessenger and the ability to get online using bluetooth.
it sounds like there is no real difference between the $4.99 & $9.99 plan.

hey. i use the 4.99 t-zones also and i can check imap mail.. however you can not easily access an outside smtp server, but using the t-mobile server works great.. i was also one of the lucky ones who got free wap for a while, and could access other ports using wap (also on a computer with the phone as a modem i can access anything via the gprs)

actually, residentevil, when you have the 4.99 plan you can access imap (corporate) email through your built in email client, not through the t-zones, and just set your smtp to the tmobile server (myemail.t-mobile.com in america) and it will work. you can also access html via webviewer.. i am doubtful as to what the 9.99 plan really adds.. but, i was also a lucky one who got free wap (other than just the t-zone page to buy t-zones) for almost a year, and could use that to connect my pc - for free. maybe i am lucking out again, when they blocked out other wap sites i got the cheapest plan, and was going to configure a wap-email portal, but realized that i could access everything i wanted to.. i know there are limits, like to file sizes downloaded (but i only have a t510, the largest games and tones still download)... so i would suggest everyone at least try the 4.99 plan first, see if it limits their usage, if not it makes more sense...

edit - the limitations are on file sizes, i know that for sure, you also can access a custom smtp server however going through their servers masks your ip address so any decent smtp server will deny relaying for an outside domain..... the strange thing is though, if you use it as a gprs modem for a pc, youi can get to any damn port you want, with seemingly no limitations.. like i have downloaded 10MB files via secure ftp(it took a long time, but worked) in a pinch before... i wonder why it would work on a pc and not the phone that is connecting it...
