A new version of "Freesafe" (v0.2.5) was released to the public at the weekend. For those who aren't already aware, Freesafe is (as the name suggests) a freeware password encryption package. It uses the well-respected Twofish algorithm operating in 192-bit mode. Twofish was one of the best AES candidates, developed by Bruce Schneier and others. For those who are curious, there are 3 possible versions of the Twofish algorithm ie Twofish-128, Twofish-192 and Twofish-256. Freesafe uses the 192-bit version of Twofish.
Freesafe is written in Java and uses the "Bouncy Castle" crypto library. Amongst other features, FreeSafe v0.2.5 provides auto-timeout, alphabetical sorting of entries, and even the capability to generate "one time passwords" via SHA1 or MD5.
I've been using FreeSafe on my Sony-Ericsson P800 for a while now, and it's a nice little package. In my opinion it's as good as other commercial products that cost between $10 and $20 per copy. Click here for full details of Freesafe and a hyperlink to download it:-

Because FreeSafe is coded in Java, it will run on a variety of platforms, including the Sony Ericsson P800, P900 and even the T610. It will run on Nokia phones as well eg Nokia 3650, 7610, 7650, 9210 as well as the Sharp Gx10i
I have no connection with FreeSafe, except as a satisfied user. I'm posting this because freeware encryption software for the P800 is quite thin on the ground, and FreeSafe isn't as well known as it deserves to be.
If you have lots of passwords to remember and need a secure method of storing them then FreeSafe is worth considering.
