Hi guys i just wanna ask two things concerning a PC IR connection to my k700i. Firstly whats the difference between a dongle and an adapter? Secondly I wanna go to Hong Kong and buy a IR dongle/adapter (whichever one i'm supposed to buy)..but I know that they are under $100 that's under £7 (I saw one for $67 thats like £5!..and it says on the cover esp for phone and PDA communication)...but in uk they are like £20-£40 even online! Are there differences and compatibility issues?

Thanks in advance

no, they're pretty much the same.
the ir standard is similar for most usb ir ports.
but u need to have driver issues sorted out.

If you're running a new OS like Windows XP then you shouldn't need any new drivers for the infrared dongle/adapter if connected via the USB port.

People just think "dongle" sounds cool. In fact dongle is a specific term for a hardware lock that was originally used for copy protection on some early PC software. These days, the term is used inter-changeably with adapter, though I am not sure they know what a dongle is in HK.

There are different types of IR and you should be looking for IRDA adapters (fortunately that's the only widely available type). Indeed they sell for like US$15 in Hongkong. Look for the BAFO BF-120.
