Hello all - well today I went and upgraded my t610 to a K700i via Carphone Warehouse. Ive swapped from Vodafone to 02 and got an unbranded phone (gsm - not even a little bit branded like some 02 phones you get). My query is, with it being unlocked etc I should be able to put my vodafone sim in it and continue using the phone with Vodafone on the K700i until my number port goes through and my 02 sim is activated. However, when I put the Vod sim in my new phone I get zero signal. Ive had a look at Preferred Networks etc and can see an array of Vodafone things to chose from. Anyone know which I select? Ive tried a couple but im still getting nothing. What am I missing?

Thanks
Michelle

Although the phone is unbranded, it is not unlocked. This message was posted from a T68i

Carphone Warehouse told me it was... said the 02 thing wouldnt go through till later this month and in the meantime I could use my Vodafone sim in the phone. I guess there is a possiblility they dont know what they are talking about of course!

If it's unlocked it should automatically detect the SIM whatever the preferred networks. Check the phone hasn't been set to ban Voda UK (if the phone is unlocked you can manually alter the setting). This message was posted from a T68i

My vodafone sim has NOT expired! It is still working fine in my T610 because I have not yet ported my number from Vod to 02 - it takes a couple of weeks, so as of 20th Sept, Vodafone sim will die, but not before! This is why the question of it being possible to use it in the unlocked/unbranded K700i came up in the first place - and CPW said yes it would work.

"Check the phone hasn't been set to ban Voda UK (if the phone is unlocked you can manually alter the setting). "

...how do I do this? I have had a good poke about and cant find where I would check this apart from the Preferred Networks area.

Thanks for your help !

Even in that case signal strength has to be shown, take the phone and voda sim to dealer and ask them to make it work. They will figure it out. This message was posted from a T230

Have a look under GSM Networks -> Select Network. Anything interesting? This message was posted from a T68i

You can see if the K700 is locked/unlock in the service menu. From standby screen press:
Right, *, Left, Left, *, Left, *

You should then go to 'Service info' then 'SIM lock'
You should see 4padlocks open or closed accordingly
