I got a brand new K700i today, I inserted my Genie sim card with £7 credit and 200 more free texts to go and about 250 free wap minutes too.

I went onto the o2 site, got my gprs settings sent to me, saved them, connected to gprs and it started charging me!! When I got off i had no money left, in fact when i press #10# to see how much I had, it said '-0.18' and now I cannot use my free text messages because of this. What has happened??

I set it to use o2 wap GPRS. Looked through the connection manually and they are all fine, exact the same connections as I had on my old phone and my old phone let me have the 300 free minutes. Is there a way of being able to use my free texts on the K700i until I top up again?

you used to use gsm dialup for free mins, you got sent the gprs settings which is chargable (you should get 1mb free though) you would have to use nearly 3mb to use £7 credit so its not that, email or ring o2 is the only thing you can do to get an answer.

it's quite easy to eat through gprs on the k700 DUE to the very capable nature of the browser. have you been visiting www sites rather than simple wap? i notice also on some accounts o2 have been taking credit in full 1meg chunks for gprs instead of pro rata. regardless of your balance as long as you top up each month you get your free gprs and text to use.

@dragonunleashed

wow, you're a helpful guy aren't you?? What's the point of a forum if people can't ask questions? If you don't have an answer, why not just keep quiet?

Hi,

The reason why you were charged was because with the O2 Online sim card you get 300 WAP GSM minutes and not GPRS as GPRS you will only get charged how much data you recieve. So by you connecting via WAP GPRS you would of been charged for what you recieved.

Hope this helped
Any more questions just ask

Are these correct?
