Vodafones customised software on the phone doesn't allow you to use mp3s as ringtones. This is supposidly due to infringments of copyright laws. But is indeed a ploy to get you to use voda live! ringtones

You can't use that option on Voda branded phones.

Ooooh! that's a real loss. mp3 ringtones are really cool. I really hope Vodaphone just lightens up a bit on this one.

You are out of luck if you are on a voda. Mixin said all you needed to know on that! What about mp3 and o2? Same or are they allowin it? This message was posted from a T230

...mp3s as ringtones work on all other K700i's - its just Vodafone who dont have the correct licences (or something). I have just ported my number from Vodafone to 02 so that I can make use of mp3s as ringtones. Carphone Warehouse are currently handing out unlocked/unbranded 02 K700i's too - so im really pleased with my new toy! Im actually using my vodafone sim in the unbranded k700i and its working a treat. Shame Vodafone couldnt do anything about the branding thing - they've lost my custom. Why cant there be Vodafone Live branded phones for those who want them, and completely clean ones for those who dont - I was very happy with Vodafone reception (works everywhere!) but for them to start removing functionality as well as changing icons etc, was a step too far for me!

Move to 02 or Bt Mobile ...they provide nice clean handsets!

Vodafone are going to put mp3's on their live! service soon, which you will be able to use as ringtones, but they will make you pay through the nose and there will probably only be a limited selection of pop, chart music, and the songs they use in the adverts.

I wonder how Vodas going to let their customer use mp3 ONLY if they download them from their site?

Are they encrypted in some way as surely people could just place mp3's they want on a personal website and download them from there.

I don't really care as I've converted to O2 a few weeks ago but still..... HHmmmm
