Nokia 6310i has JAVA though it has no color display and just about 200 kb of memory! That means that youīre able to download different games and applications through GPRS to your phone and have much more fun.

I think it would be great if SonyEricsson makes T68 Java enabled: color display and 1 MB of memory sounds like a dream for Java. Just imagine! It would be a killer phone!

From the technical point of view it doesnīt seem to be impossible. We just need a firmware with Java support.

What do you think? Will SonyEricsson do that?

Yes and just think of all the wonderful malicious code people could run on your phone.
I for one am a person who uses my phone primarly as a phone the games have very little interest for me.
As for me I am quite happy with the phone the way it is. Having Java could lead to many headaches.

Then, you donīt need T68! Any other cheaper phone is enough to make phone calls, isnīt it?
By the way, there is a freedom of choice - if you donīt need Java, just donīt use it!

And it doesnīt mean that it will be just games.
It can be useful applications for stock exchange, world time, valuta conversion which takes currency values directly from internet or something else. Just name it! Java enabled phone opens a new horizon of possibilities, donīt you agree? Especially with the phone like T68.

I really hope that SonyEricsson has such plans. :)

How many times is this topic going to go around? Java support is not just about firmware. The hardware has to conform to the standard. It is the same as saying 'why can't we have bluetooth' on a phone that does not have it JUST because it uses radio frequency! I would not expect major updates to this model now. It is nearly at the start of the lifecycle downturn. This post was posted from a T68i

Yeah that would be so cool if the T68 had java because then we could get some good games instead of those crap card ones on now... This post was posted from a T68i

It is not just firmware, well that is almost true. Your platform, what ever it may be has to have the abbility to run the JVM for the cpu, now I am no expert, but I have had some experience porgraming for embeded platforms, and mostly what they would have to do is go and find the java feature set that they want you to have. then write the code to inteagreate it into the OS, then compile it and test it, then make your firmware image. it is not all that diffrent from adding java to any embedded device. in all actuallity all the phone is is a computer that happens to be rather limited and have a GSM/GPRS transmitter in it. think of it as a ipaq that doesnt run windows. They can do it, and from what I have heard they are in the process of it. the question will be, are they going to have a upgrade to the new version of the firmware, or are they going to want you to go and get a new phone??? As to the code people can run on your phone, what could they possibly do to you, add a favorite to your bookmarks ***OHHHH*** dont scar me. Look to keep java from doing any damage, you can a protect the system memory from writing from the java mod. or just cut out all of the functions that will allow the program from writing to the phone.

I think they need to also add a full HTML parser into the browser. That would really make this a nice phone.
