does anyone use pipex at home.if so can thay send emails from there p900 through the smtp sever ?
i can receive through pop3
but the smtp server refuses to allow connection for sending
help

you will generally have to set your smtp to be your networks,

dont ask why cuz i dont know!!

ie if you were with oraange itd be smtp.orange.net

but itd show it was from your pipex acc.

I'm a Pipex xtreme user. (ADSL). I had a serious fall out with Pipex over this issue. Two years ago, I asked Pipex how I could configure my phone to view my emails on my phone when I was working away from home. This took them FIVE HOURS of phone calls to sort out. All but 15 minutes of this was waiting for someone to answer my call, and being cut off and phoning back. Pipex used to have an abysmal customer services. They told me I would need to pay an extra £5 a month to allow me to have dial-up access to my xtreme account. I agreed, and when it arrived, they had given me a completely different username and password for my dial-up account. When I phoned them about it, (another TWO HOURS), they then told me that the dial-up account was a separate stand-alone account and could not be used to access my extreme emails. I asked them why they had provided this dial-up account, when I made it painfully clear that I required remote access to my xtreme account. It then took them almost a YEAR to cancel this new account and credit my account with money they had taken from me for my unwanted dial-up account.

Believe me, Pipex can be a nightmare on these issue. The bottom line seems to be that ADSL mail can only be accessed from your home account. If anyone knows better, I'd be interested to hear how it can be done.

This is what you do:

Use your DIALUP account with your SP...
Then, use this setup:

Incoming mail server: pop.dsl.pipex.com (Same port)
Mailbox: Email address, OR just the 1st bit of ur addy (eg: zzzz99) (forgot!)
Password: Duh!
Username: zzzz99%dsl.pipex.com (replace zzzz99 wiv ur username!)
Outgoing mail server: IF YOU ARE:
Orange: smtp.orange.com
O2: 193.113.160.13
Vodafone: mail.vodafone.net
T-Mobile: smtp.t-email.co.uk
Port as the one there!

And there you go!

If you connect via gprs u need to use your networks smtp server.
eg smtp.orange.net

If you connect via dial-up, use their smtp server

that's right, to send an email you need to use the smtp settings of the network you're on. otherwise the message will be rejected due to security reasons. It's like if you use several pop accounts on your PC, you can receive all of them but if you want to reply, you should use the smtp settings of the connection/ISP you're currently using
