> Retrieve POP3 mail on K700i
Bookmark topic
Hello all - I have recently upgraded from a t610 to a k700i and i am trying to get my gprs working so i can check pop3 email. This was easy on the t610 although i did have to phone vodafone for the APN number. I just rang them and they havent got a clue what im talking about - and data support arent there. Does anyone here have 2 secs to remind me whats needed? I have set up a data account under connectivity on the phone ie pop3/smtp setting, username and password - but when I hit send and receive it says connection failed - prob because the apn screen didnt get filled in (it was a strange number like #61 or something if I remember)... it also has '...' for IP and DNS addresses - is this right? I have already set up the email account settings under Messsage>Email... guess im missing something somewhere.
Can anyone help? I just want to continue checking email on my phone for the last 2 weeks of my vodafone contract! I'll need to do this all again when I get ported to 02 of course :-S
Thanks in advance
Michelle

@michelleski
The APN for e-mail is "internet.vodafone.net". Skip all other settings in this menu (IP etc.).
The APN for the browser is "services.vodafone.net". If you use this one for checking your e-mail, the connection will fail.

@SirHack - yes i have set this up...
@ Cybervisitor - I tried adding your internet.vodafone.net in the APN screen, and left all other options blank (ie username, password, ip, dns etc..) but I still get connection failure. I think i better go and download the gprs settings again from sony ericcson or vodafone and then try again. I did a google search and found a few bits of info - its all coming back to me now - I had a bit of trouble with this when I got my t610 a year ago, but once it was sorted its worked like a dream for 12 months!
Thanks!
Michelle

Ok - ive done it

You have to use the following settings for vodafone gprs:
Phone number *99#
APN: Internet
User name: web
Password: web
Obtain DNS addresses automatically (Tick)
This is used to set up the GPRS data account. Then the email stuff which Id already set up worked fine. I had forgotten the web/web username and password. APN of 'internet' also forgotten - and the funny code thing *99# I couldnt actually find any place to enter that. It still works though.
Thought i'd post this in case anyone needed reminding (like me!).
This page is quite useful for Vodafone and 02 gprs & wap settings:
hehehe - tell you what, i'll ask the questions and then answer them myself! LOL... I just found this rather useful looking page which shows various manual set up details for Vodafone, Orange, TMobile, Virgin, Tescos and 02 wap & gprs settings

Cheers...Michelle.
