Hello everyone!

I installed Package 4 (27,234 Kb)on to my Windows XP system and wanted to synchronise Outlook with my newly upgraded t68m which now has the t68i software.

I get the message 'An extension failed to initialise. Can't open file: extend.dat. The file may not exist, you may not have permission to open it, or it may be open by another program. Right click the folder that contains the file, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. You don't have the appropriate permission to perform this operation.'

I click OK and then Outlook runs satisfactorily. The icon that should appear on the Outlook toolbars does not appear.

I can send sms using Outlook with my T68 using an USB infrared cable.

I can also synchronise with Outlook if I click on the mobile phone icon at the bottom right of the Windows screen. I do have to say yes, to allow access to Outlook.

Could anyone advise please? I have search my hard disks for 'extend.dat' and it seems not to exist.

Any help would be appriecated.

I really would appreciate any advice. I have tried different synchronisation packages and also re-installing.

You will find the extend.dat in the folder listed below. But first be sure you have the option to view hidden files & folders selected in the "Control Panel - Folder Options - View" or you won't find it. Replace the name Paul with your name or whatever Win XP put in there.

C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Once you get it then move it to this folder and your problem should be over.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\

This procedure worked for me - Good luck
