First of all, greetings to all members of the forum. Second let me explain my problem with my 3 weeks old SEk700i...

I don`t get any low battery warnings on my phone, the battery just runs out and the phone powers itself off with no prior warning whatsoever. Battery life is as expected 2/3 days. I upgraded to R2L firmware expecting to solve this and other problems. Situation has improved as for menu navigation (slow and jerky before), battery life, but didnt correct this problem of battery warning. Anyone had the same problem? Any thoughts on how to solve this low battery warning thing.

That is a strange problem, but I have a feeling that it might have something to do with your recent firmware upgrade. I'm not sure why this would have disbaled the low battery warning; the only reason I can think of being that the upgrade wasn't fully successful. I would recommend that you have your K700 re-flashed with the current firmware.

My battery warning only warns me audibly and visibly when the battery is pracitcally dead, rather short notice, but does (eventually) warn me.

Same here. After one alert, maybe 2, it turns off. Its possible too, that the indicator is empty, but the alert has a kind of delay and warns u after some minutes. This message was posted from a T630

I`m almost sure it has not to do with the firmware update, because this problem happened before the firware upgrade as well. I expected the update to solve it but no.
There were times when it did warn me and instantly powered off. Like split seconds, like the sound and blink drained the very very last power in the battery. That doesnt count as warning. Of course the battery going red and all is in itself a warning but...in my r600 it would start beeping low power and I could still make a couple of quick calls. Thanks for your replies. Keep them coming.

NOTE: most of the times no visible or audible warning at all.

I get max 3 warnings, but still can manage half an hour or so on wap. P. S. I do that to make it dead and recharge from scratch every two weeks. This message was posted from a T230

This certainly sounds like a firmware issue; is your K700 branded by a particular network?

Its branded...someone called it "light" branding in here the other day, like only one shortcut on main menu to operator wap site and services, goodbye screens and some locked items like one internet profile and a couple images. Can`t tell what a "heavy branded" phone would be so...
The firmware update was made at a SE Service Center and was successfully completed, no problems whatsoever. Ill guess Ill just wait for another major firwmare update and go to the center again...in a couple of months, I dont want to pest the place every week, they have enough phone freaks in there all the time. This issue bothers me more in my mind that it bothers me in the the actual phone usage. I`m sure some of you can relate to this kind of feeling...

Another thing did your phone ever turned off for no particular reason...like when sending a msg or leaving camera mode?Happened to me once or twice prior to the firmware upgrade...anyone of you get this after R2L?Hope this was solved...havent got enough test time with this new firmware.

Not sure why people are saying this is a firmware issue ... I disagree. Odds are it's your battery (or slight chance it's phone).

I work with embedded systems, so although this is conjecture I think it's correct for mobile phones. In short, as a battery drains, the voltage it produces decreases. This decrease is not linear, but falls off sharply towards the end of the battery's charge. When the voltage decreases substantially, the phone is inoperable.

The phone samples an ADC channel for the battery periodically to determine its voltage. The voltages it reads are used for the battery meter display. The battery level warning occurs when the voltage produced by the battery is below some predefined threshold value.

Now many people, myself included, realized that the K700i battery warning is shown very close (minutes or less) to the phone dying. This means that the threshold voltage at which the warning is displayed is very close to the voltage below which the phone is inoperable.

Given all this (I hope correct for mobile phones) info, if you don't get a low battery warning various things can be happening. One thing is that we don't know how often the battery is sampled. If the phone samples the battery infrequently, it's possible your battery falls from above threshold voltage to an inoperable level (turns off) before the battery is sampled. Even more so if you're using the phone at the time. Other possible explanations are that the voltage readings aren't calibrated right, but then I'd suspect your battery meter display would be wonky. Or that you're not using an SE battery. At any rate, I highly doubt it's a firmware problem, especially since you experienced it before the upgrade.
