Hi,

I am considering buying a simfree orange k700i for a good price at £170 which is unlocked.

Just wondering before i buy a orange k700i if the orange branding is as heavy as say vodafone?

Can the orange firmware be flashed to defualt SE firmware at SE service centres as i have been told they cannot do this with Vodafone brandings.

You may wanna hold back from buying an Orange branded one, they've mucked up the shortcuts menu like something rotten!

Have a look through this

Is the menu shortcut disability really a problem though? What i mean is i have been with vodagroan for over a year with a phone more branded than a tescos van, will i notice any difference than the vodafone firmware?

I havent got a K700, I was gonna get one, but had a play around at the Orange shop and I personnaly thought that the shortcut button thing that Orange removed would annoy the hell out of me (cos that's the kinda person I am..

)

See if you can get hold of a non branded one to play with, then check out the Orange one.. that's all I can say on that really, unless someone else here may be able to give more insight..

Having been a long time Orange customer (T68i - T610) I naturally upgraded to a K700i on thier network. However the branding was too much for me. I ordered another K700i from O2 and had them both side by side for a couple of days before I returned the Orange phone under the 14 day return agreement. All I can say is that you made a good decision going with O2 - the phone is hardly branded at all. I could just about stand the Orange-ified icons in the navigation page but the decision to add the extra 'icons' on the main screen instead of the SE intention of using the joystick for shortcuts had me perplexed!
