and
b) roughly how much it will cost unlocked and with a high-end contract (ie: a 400mins a month one)

Based on the reaction to the Vodafone K700 I wouldn't bother anyway, it's bound to be ruined.

Yeah, I saw a picture somewhere of the S700 that will be released by the Vodafone UK network, and yes you guessed it... it has got the ever so annoying Vodafone live branding to it. Therefore, a nice handset ending up in the wrong hands and getting totally ruined!

ARRRRGGHHH... I hate that lame Voda Live look! Don't they know it's lame
I wonder how much extra cash they are making by changing the phones and pushing people to the Live! service?

They could still direct all the wap stuff to Live and make all the extra money and not ruin the phone. Just don't change the icons and disable features!!! It's just common sense really.

you can't
at least not for some time to come.
and are you seriously saying that you've already abandoned the idea without even so much as investigating the possibility of getting an unbranded phone through an independant store which is still on a contract???
And regardless of your abandoning the idea... others might still want to know the answer to the original question.... instead of having this turn out in yet another 'bash voda for branded software' thread

ok pal, relax!
My only option is Voda because the signal is strongest where I live / work. I also dont have £500 to spend on an unlocked phone, so I'll have to get a contract deal.. ergo, with Vodafone.
Just noticed in the other major s700 thread that prices on contracts have already been announced... have a look
