It took them 2 weeks to do my P800 when I took it in, not sure if some of the larger branches can do it while you wait or not. I imagine there are service centres in South Africa somewhere.

btw, is it that urgent that you get the fw upgraded before going away? how serious are the faults on your phone?

I doubt South African dealers will update a european phone for free. Why do you have to get it updated?

Does it work ok? Do you have to reset it a lot?

I'm running R2a firmware on my K700, and have had few problems with it. The only things I've really noticed are the phone sometimes hanging or pausing for a second or two whilst in menus or typing a text or pressing buttons (just a slight annoyance), but no other problems. The battery now lasts a reasonable length of time, no problems with the phone turning itself off or anything too drastic.

I went on holiday for a week to Malta with it and didn't have a single problem - in fact whilst over the the slight 'hanging' problem went away for some reason!

I would advise waiting until you get back from South Africa, that is unless the need is very pressing. I'm sure you will be able to cope if it is just a case of minor bugs.
