I am going to post my Vodafone branded K700i to the Hays Technology Repair Center for Sony Ericsson Phones in the UK. Do you think they will be able to upgrade me to R2V ?

What do you mean while yours was in for repair they sent you one to use or you got a brand new phone when it came back? Im just posting myn off to them 2morrow in my own jiffy bag.

Ive just got my phone back from the Hays Repair center. I sent it away for a firmware update. Its on Vodafone and I can now report that it has the R2V firmware on. It feels like a new phone.
