That's right.
...
I think I'm gonna cry.
Seriously though, this is one sweet phone, and while the price may not exactly be right, any man's lust for gadgets may very well overwhelm the last shred of common sense left in him. Or not. In my case, well, I'm on the fence.
I mean, just look at it.
It's beautiful, it's powerful, and it's got metal bits.
So, on to the meat of the topic: The phone is now made available by Smart, but currently only by applying for a postpaid service subscription. There's a monthly bill, and quite naturally the phone will be locked to your Smart SIM.
I've been on Globe for the last four years, and despite its having grown some truly nasty warts (i.e., the WAP over GPRS wart, the "We are mostly a content provider for Nokia phones" wart) I've stayed with them ever since. Now I haven't truly had any incentive to 'defect' to another service provider--I've always thought they were all practically the same--up until now.
So, is the Sony Ericsson S700i worth getting on a Smart contract? For current Smart subscribers, how's your service doing? Are they serving you well? Have you any complaints about Smart? I understand this issue has already been discussed numerous times, but I'm not looking to start a full-blown debate comparing the two networks. I would just like to know if this camera-cum-phone (or vice versa, depending on your frame of reference) is indeed worth shifting over to Smart.
Your comments on the matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

P35K on Plan P500?! Holy
Cr@p?! Ain't that freakily expensive?! that's like a lot more expensive than what the P800 is going for this days and it doesn't have Symbian OS. That can't be possibly right!

Bengalboy is dissapointed with his s700.. And the price, 35k, is tooo much for a non-smartphone handset.. And according to bengalboy, speaker quality cannot match those of motorola's... I don't think it's worth it. In my opinion..

Exactly.

Bengalboy (and anyone's) phone review is basically a subjective opinion from him. Besides he reviews it really good (thumbs up to him), the fact is... he's reviewing a prototype unit, anything can change from the pre-production version to the units we buy at a store.
Anyone around here (i think) tries out a unit first extensively before buying it.

Yup! I got my Nokia 7610 back then with this promo dude! Truly, it's really great mates! It's either I got the fone for - FREE, or my airtime calls, sms/mms etc. for 2 years - FREE, either way one of them is really for - F R E E ! No contest !
@cesarperrin - I used to have a line with SMART last 1995, but since I was not a heavy user then (I only consume Php 20.00/month at plan 120.00 back then) . . . What I have now is plan Php 1.2K for 2 years - under SMART's Addict Mobile scheme! As I go with their breakdown everytime I receive my monthly billing statements (had received 2 as of now), I can see some disparity/lapses/numerical deformities with their computations

! I am being ripped off around Php 200.00 - 300.00/monthly ! Charges which I really did not incur ! It's your choice here mate, I guess Globe is far much better (honest) when it comes to registering yourself with their plans/schemes compared with that of SMART!
