> Transfering data from P800 to P910?
Bookmark topic
I'm hoping to get a P910 when Orange bring it out (sometime this month according to their call centre) and thought I'd get people's advice on how to transfer information from one to the other. I'm reasonably clued up with this stuff and think I know most of the methods but as ever these forums always throw out nuggets of gold, and maybe this'll help others in the same boat.
I recall the Nokia had an app especially for transferring data from the 9100 to 9210
As I only have one sim card I cannot beam information from one phone to the other. Transfer of contacts, calendar etc is simple - sync up to Outlook and sync back down to the new phone. It's applications such as Handy Safe that will probably cause problems - is there security that checks if it's been moved between phones? (I would assume so, perhaps based on IMEI number).
Of course, I can also use the File Manager program to copy entire directories from the phone to the laptop, but need to better understand what can and cannot be copied over to the new phone (otherwise I might overwrite an app or associated file with an older one, for example).

@ mbailey, you have highlighted many of the methods that most people here would choose to transfer data from one device to another, however another way would simply be to save the majority of apps etc to a memory stick duo for example then insert it straight into the P910, any contacts simply bluetooth across to the new phone.

I'm sure someone u know will let u borrow their SIM so u can run both phones just to send Contacts etc across.
Everything else can be move via the Duo.
You may encounter problems with registered apps due to the new IMEI (another reason I don't buy phone apps, the keygen approach solves this problem
