I love my SE p900. Just last night, I turned it off at dinnerand when i turned it on again, I got an error message: "Wrong SIM card", "Insert correct SIM". I have read that this means the phon eneeds a software update.
What does this software update do? I heard it formats the memory. This is a total disaster, because I recently sold my old laptop and I was about to install and backup my phone memory on the new one. Is flashing my only option? and does it really delete all the data on the phone? Please please help me.

Try taking out the sim card and wiping it with a clean t-shirt and also the sim contacts on the phone then replace the sim card and push it in as far as it will go
It has happened to me a couple of times and doing the above has solved the problem

Whereabouts are you? If you need to flash it with new firmware, you will need a

service centre.

Indeed, a do-it-yourself cleaning can solve it, but its useful to let it check by experts aswell, just for secure.

Hello, I have taken out the sim, cleaned it. tested with new sims. I still get the same error. I will definately consider a service as long as I don't lose my data. I am based in West London.

Yeah but whats the point in having the data in your phone when you cant access it? You will have to flash the firmware to get access to your phone, so you either lost the data and be able to use the phone, or you keep the data but cant access it, and cant use the phone!
