i just got a p800 a few days ago and i was so happy, i mean, i was going completely crazy. i used £10 worth of fone credit in 2 days on internet downloads for my fone! THEN, with my final 62p, i went on the internet to download the ir remote control, when download was complete, it said i have to restart the fone, so i did. Next thing i knew was that when i switched the fone back on, that big sony erricson p800 screen was all i could see........for the past 12 MINUTES!
i took it to a fone speacialist and they told me i will have to get the fone re-flashed. What the hell is dat? plz plz help!

Have you tried pressing and holding the Power button for well above 10 seconds? Then try to turn the phone on.
If this does not work, try removing the battery, and keep it out for a while. Re-insert the battery and try to turn on the phone.
If you still have problems, I would agree with the expert opinion you got.
Re-flashing the phone consists of taking it to an SE Servicepoint, where they will install new firmware to the phone.

Thanks for the help, i really apreciate it, but there's still nothing, just that big sony ericsson p800 screen, oh gosh, i'm so devastated, i can't tell my parents because they'll constantly tell me how irresponsible i am. i wish i could access master reset but i cant cos the phone is frozen on dat same screen. I cant enjoy any of the phone's features, bluetooth, infra red, nothing! its just terrible, i might aswell just chuck the damn thing in the garbage. PLEASE any1, help...

Holding the power button for 10seconds is a hard reboot, doing that should restart the phone. Furthermore remove the battery & restart.
If the phone just does the same again i.e gets stuck at the

screen then u have a problem. I suspect that problem is that u ran out of space on the internal drive, they don't react well to that!
I think u'll need to get the firmware flashed at a Service Centre & in future install most 3rd party apps & all ur sounds, pics etc on the Memory Stick Duo

take out your msduo first, then press power for ten-twenty seconds and if that doesnt help try the battery out for a while again.
If not, service centre unfortunately.
always rememer to keep at least 2mb free on your c: drive for it to function in a timely manner. If you saved all/ too many applications on c: it's bound to crash cuz it doesnt have enough memory to even simply do a start up procedure.
and always make regular backups!
and watch out with shady 3rd party software.. makes the phone extra buggy.

There has been a few topics on this ever since the P800 first hit the shelves. Many a good idea has been launched to solve the problem and restart the phone. I seem to recall one was about putting the battery in the freezer overnight (What ever good that was suposed to do...).
I had the freeze problem a coupple of times on my phone.
It's all to do with filling up the memory too much.
The only way I ever managed to solve this was to go to a service point and have software upgrade preformed. I suggest you do that without telling your parents.
There is one little catch to it though; Unless you've done a back up of your phone all the apps and downloads you've done will be lost.

The exact same thing happened to me. I e-mailed Sony Ericsson and they told me that the firmware needed updating, they gave me the address of where to send it. So I sent it off it came back in a week and worked fine! Everthing you have installed on the phone will be deleted though.

Consider the plus point. You practically get a new phone and you can download your app's all over again.
