I got the excellent p910i a few days ago and I ve been taking some nice pics but this evening I went out and I pictured the sunset, the sun was evening sunset yet still pretty shiny, Well I took a cpl pics and they were also great quality..

Anyways the problem is that now Im home and when I turn the cam on to take pics, the view is all kinda reddish and orange, my friends nokia6600 shows perfectly clear with all the whites and colors, but my 910 looks like crap.. I am wondering if that sun caused the lens to loose its some color or focus abilities ? I mean it would be stupid just to loose the cam if u stare it into the sun...

My friend took bunch of pics of sun at 12 noon when the sun is strongest and his cam is pretty clear..

Has anyone any idea what might be the problem ?

no its not the brightness or anyother profile settings.. the colors are looking dead and the frame rate is kinda sloppy, all little squares and stuff can be noticed..

I am really dissapointed about the situation now I have my phone off for 20 mins going to check if its gonna differ.. but dont think so..

any ideas?

cheers

if i wasn't so god damn nice i'd tell you that it was the lighting settings and that you should learn to use your phone before you post on here.

maybe i'm not so nice after all - but seriously, is there no change at all if you switch from the outdoor profile to the indoor? (move jog dial up and down)

I also suspect the problem is just because u have selected the wrong 'lighting' setting.
Try changing the pic profile or change the lighting type in 'Preferences'.

dear dudes

I know electronics and phones and I am not a careless ignoring user of anykind of thing thats one.

i tried all kinds of different settings with playing the contrast and brightness and such. No.
The thing is even when I get the brightness higher then the picture quality gets poor and all stupid square frames are showing up, so thats not a good way to go about it.

I resetted all the color and brightness settings to defaults and the result is that, for example i am in my living room and with indoor settings or auto the picture im getting is high on Red and orange tones, I point the camera to the lamp (high density) then turn over to the room and the colors get more vivid all of a sudden. I tried it during night time but at home so there is enough lightning. But the pictures and the camera view isnt as you look with naked eye, while the nokia6600 does that.

I am giving 6600 as an example not a comparison even tho it might very well be.. Maybe this SE's camera isnt as good as 6600's ? That might be another thing.

Also Now there is daylight and in the same area the view is now all bluish.. how's bout that? this is with indoor settings , There is daylight however when I switch to night or auto I get the colors somewhat more correct. And I have daylight coming in once again!?

And is it normal to have a sphere shaped lummination when looking at the cameras screen?? It is like the lens cannot receive the light then spread it all around the screen equally..

I mean These might be basically occuring because of the not so good lens and camera quality in p910 or as I said would you think that my camera lens and basically what I am talking about in here is because I had the cam pointed to Sun? and took a 2 pics? I dont wanna think that way tho u never know...

and I am going to attach a pic that sun pic that I took there has been 2 dots consecutively getting bigger in the 2nd pic that I took right in the middle of the lens where I had the sun coming in directly..

First Picture is here

Second;

Take a look and please I would really appreciate a little more technical in-depth responses or ideas as replies.. I am full for lame accusing flames : ) so Thank you once again..

Cheers.

and these are to show you the incorrect light Sphere in the middle.
I took these pictures with the auto setting and indoor setting,

in a very small room with light on. So there is strong lightning.

And the wall is actually White but doesnt look like white in here.. :/

check it out. pay attention to the middle, you can notice the Big light sphere.. when looking in the picture viewer in the phone they are hell of alot more noticable, same when catching the pose..
indoor

auto

That sun killed my lenss!!! I wanna suicide!

Assuming that there is some damage to your camera, I would suggest that it is not a problem with the lens but with the photosensor (CCD or CMOS, whatever P900 uses). Not quite normal, but seems that bright sunlight has affected the sensitivity of your photo sensor... thereby compromising their ability to react to light.

For an understanding of what part is malfunctioning look here and here

Dont wait... take it to a service centre. Avail the warranty if you have it.

So this is a p910 not even in sale in USA. Got it sent from hong kong How can I take it to service?

And would it be possible to replace the camera in it with an advanced one? like one of those 1.MP ones i.e?

the cost shouldnt be a concern since I didnt pay anything for the phone itself

lets be honest, if as you think theres a fault with the sensor, you're going to have to give it to SE to fix. Unfortunately, no matter how well described, there's going to be no simple fix..

And no - you're not going to be able to replace the sensor with a megapixel jobby. If it was that simple, don't you think they would have done it? Think about it - how will the p910 work with it, considerring theres a setting for image size within the options.....
