Orange customer relations phoned me to offer me a new 12 month contract and they asked me if I wanted a new handset. I told them I was considering going 3g and the adviser told me Orange where having problems with the z1010, which is the handset I am after. Has anyone else been told this? What is the delay with the z1010 release?

I think he may have just been badgering me to sign up for a new contract and a new phone but if people are holding out for 3g surely Orange should be encouraging them to do so as the tariffs are more expensive and they need to recover the megabucks they paid out for the 3g licence in the first place!! Is anyone else holding out for 3g?

My local Orange shop has a sign in the window advising people to sign up for the z1010 in advance as it will be released soon. Is it a good idea to wait a bit longer until the software issues have been sorted out? Is it only with the uk 3g network that the z1010 has been problematic?

The Z1010's I have been on seemed very stable & they were test models. 1st of Oct it should be released.

Wait if you want the handset to perform well, or if you can't wait you will have to put up with the bugs.

May be the best thing for me to do is to sign a new contract, wait 12 months and hope by then there is an all network V800 available. I will request a K700 and check the firmware. This message was posted from a T610

sounds more like the networks are having problems installing there own inferior firmware over the superior SE firmware

orange indeed does want their own firmware and it is indeed not impossible that this specific orange firmware is the one that is having trouble with the Z1010

the few z1010's that I have seen live (all 3 of them ) were very stable and the none of the owners reported any terrible bugs
Needless to say none of them were running orange firmware
