Flight mode is something that deactivates all radio signals from the phone i.e the actual 'phone' & Bluetooth etc while leaving other functions active such as MP3 player.
Very useful on the P-Series but not always accepted by all airlines apparently

flight mode means you can use it on planes and in areas were mobile signal is forbiden like hosptials.
basicly the "phone" part is turned off but u can still use the "pda" part of it, eg for music and films
as far as i know the only SE that have flight mode are the pxxx series
