hey. i'm new here. but i just bought a new k700i, and am not very happy now. you see, my phone is vodafone branded, and i had an 02 sim card. so here i was unlocking the phone in the market for it to be able to be used on 02. yeh, it worked and all that, but i was thinking it would get rid of all the vodafone crap off it aswell. then i heard that the only way to get rid of it is to update the firmware at the vodafone service. updating it also means that i get a better battery life, and to finally get mp3s as ringotnes!!!!!!!
anyway, i went there today, and they were like "yes we can do it for you, it is free under warrenty. we will do it for you." then i tell them it was on 02 at that moment, and they were like "hold on....... no i'm sorry, we cannot touch that phone. you modified the software without vodafones concent".
struggling to find out any alternative, i come here to ask anyone, if it is possible to flash a voda branded k700i even tho it is unlocked. i desperately want the original r2l firmware as it updates all bugs i have in my current one (r2a) and get rid of all voda's icons and menus.
is it possilbe to update on the sony erricson website if the phone was unlocked????? and will any store will be able to flash the phone for the new firmware even tho its unlocked?????? i really like his phone, dont get me worng, its jus that the current firmware lets it down . i hate vodafone. i really need to know how to reflash it even tho its unlocked!!!!!!!! sorry for the long life story. please help!!!

Or go to a different vodafone store and dont tell them that you're running 02 on it..

I am pretty sure you can find a store with some clueless staff in it to do your dirty work for you.

thanx guys. but i know ppl that say your warranty will be void if you unlock the phone, so people at voda will bound to know as they said it is 40 pounds (WTF!!! 40 pounds?????!!!!!!). anyway, i'm still gutted about today. fact that the battery is taken like water by a thirsty guy in the desert, and that it f###ing freezes sometimes. and the frames thing dont work (flashes and restarts when clicked) and vodas sodding branding make me regret why i bloody bought a sim locked phone from ebay in d first place.

I would have thought that they would only upgrade it to the latest Vodaphone fw? (A vodaphone store would anyway, not sure about other places).
