There are a couple of things that are annoying me about the k700i!
First of all, is it possible for a ful screen background as when i put a picture i've taken as a background it has borders - ie - borders like watching a widescreen film on normal tv. (weird way of explaining it )
And another problem is that when i take a picture and go to manage files then try to move it to a different folder sometimes it doesn't work , has anyone else experienced this problem?

P.s - I'd just like to say the k700 is a brilliant phone!

for the picture to be full screen it needs to have dimensions that correspond with the dimensions of the screen. The screen is 176*220 pixels so any image needs to be that size or proportionally bigger to fit properly.

but you can... after you take a picture, click rotate, then you can view it full screen from 'slide show' or you can use it as a screen saver/startup picture to see it on the whole display

You can't have a full screen image by just saving it with the right dimensions. The desktop background area is just 176x176 pixels. The other part of the screen consists of the status bar (at the top) which uses 176x18 pixels, and the soft keys background, which uses 176x26 pixels.

The only way to get a true fullscreen background image is to create a theme that uses the whole image in parts. Try the themes creator (which is included on the CD) for more information.

Let me just add my personal opinion on how poor this design was by Sony Ericsson. People want their background image to fill the whole screen. Especially now when there are separate graphics for the statusbar and softkeys depending on if you're in the standby mode or in menus. The standby mode should only use one 176x220 image, not a 176x18, a 176x176 and a 176x26-pixel image.

What's easier, chopping up a picture into three pieces, or making a collage of three separate pieces into one file if you _don't_ want fullscreen backgrounds? And if you do have one file, what's the phone supposed to do when you're not in standby? Cut out the top and bottom out of the image to make status bars and soft key buttons?

The chopping up solution SE used is the best. It allows both fullscreen background and non-fullscreen backgrounds, and is trivial to use. What's the big deal anyway, you only create the images once. And you don't have to be a genius to learn how to crop in MS Paint.

As I already said, the K700 uses separate graphics depending on if you're in the menus or in the standby screen. So the answer to your question ("what's the phone supposed to do when you're not in standby?") is to use the statusbar/softkeys graphics specified in the theme. But when in standby, one single background image should be used.
