I'm considering upgrading firmware from R2A - but does latest firmware address any of my problems with K700i:

Messages stored in wrong date/time order (stored as Rec'd, not as Sent) - grrrrrrrr - this is without exception the biggest issue i have with the K700 - especially since i dont give a rat's about when i rec'd them

Battery lasts around one day (no calls)

No Sleep Mode (which this phone desperately needs)

Battery guage doesn't indicate true state (goes from full to empty in around 2 hrs)

Phone doesn't indicate when it's fully charged (I just have to guess)

No Sleep Mode

No Sound at all during Games (cept intro)

Most games run at 1/4 screen size (i cant even see em)

Can't use custom sounds for message rec'd

No Sleep Mode

Screen saver on for around 4 seconds (what's the point of a screen saver that lasts for 4 seconds? - dunno) - sooner have sleep mode

No method of ordering files (could be anywhere)

P.S. My £35 Trium Eclipse doesn't have any of these issues

@jethrouk - Welcome aboard mate! Yup, there's just no other recourse but to upgrade - R2L . . . pal, though I haven't upgraded mine till now, as I am reading some cons with those members who updated their K700s. Cheers!

upgrade now. or replace new one
- battery should last for 2 days
- sleep mode, what is that for?
- not all games have sound in the background (it would be very annoying)
- not all games run at fullscreen
- you can only use pre-defined tones for alerts, even after upgrading to latest firmware
- using screensaver will swallow up your battery life
- there seems to be nothing wrong with my battery guage and charges)
- this phone is made by sonyericsson not mitsubishi (trium)

@JN

I'd have to buy one those jiggers to plug into my PC - Do you think an upgrade would address any my specific problems?

@L:

- battery should last for 2 days
still long way short of a week
- sleep mode, what is that for?
so you can program it to go to sleep every night
- not all games have sound in the background (it would be very annoying)
that's why they have a setting to switch it off (but it certainly spose to be on)
- not all games run at fullscreen
so i've discovered (software could've cured that)
- you can only use pre-defined tones for alerts, even after upgrading to latest firmware
again, a simple software fix
- using screensaver will swallow up your battery life
just wondered why bother having one that lasts 4 seconds
- there seems to be nothing wrong with my battery guage and charges)
- this phone is made by sonyericsson not mitsubishi (trium)
i realise that, just thought £250 phone ought to be better than a £35 phone )

hmm.. i believe sony use the battery safe mode to preserve battery life since big tft screen consumes much more power than stn screen. the screen will turn off and stand by within seconds if the phone is not in use. if you put it only on standby it should last more than 2 days though.. i never try that

is there a cellphone plus big tft screen with battery last longer than 4 days in normal usage? i don't know any..

i used to have mitsubishi phone, remembering it has auto shutdown, which can turn the phone off at specified time. but i never use it, lol

i'd love that if i can use any tones for alerts, but i heard that even with s700 you still can't ... ??

That's cause most games out there aren't designed for the K700 but for mobiles with a lower resolution so software can't cure that.
