I've been trying to set my pop messaging account on the P900 to Poll for email every 15 minutes. I've used the checkbox in the Messaging Accounts/Inbox section in Control panel. From what i understand, this is supposed to do the trick. I've done it for 2 email accounts that I have set up.

My problem is that the phone does not always seem to go poll for email every 15 minutes. Sometimes it goes quite a long time and yet, I know there are new mails in the inbox. As soon as I manually poll for mail, they are pulled in. Other times, it DOES poll on its own.

Does anybody know if there is something else i need to do to make this function work as advertised or has anyone else seem similar behaviour?

Thanks.

Was the phone in use or on standby? Maybe it rescheuled it because it was in use? This message was posted from a Nokia

The only problem I've seen with this are disruptions in the GPRS sessions, not the actual scheduling itself. For some reason, about twice a day (at about the same time) it times out and will not retrieve emails. (If I try manually, this does not work either.)

I chalk it up to network congestion.

I get this sometimes. It's caused by the GPRS connection be unavailable. Either because it's busy as Richie says or because you have no signal. You should get error report explaining why the retrieval failed (open up your email account and click on the broken envelope in the bottom left corner).

The thing is I have found that if this does happen once, it won't retrieve my mails automatically again until I clear the error and pull them down manually.

I might be speaking poo here, but its worth keeping an eye out for.

Thanks. I don't think it is a GPRS not available issue cuz it does not show me a broken download link and it can be in a place where I have full gprs signal. I wish there was some log kept by the phone so I could verify if it is actually checking!
