i've had my p900 for a few months now but have only just set up the email facility on it. I'm using vodafone mail and have vodafone as my contract provider. The problems that i'm having are to do with sending and receiving attachments.

1. When i try to receive .wav files i only receive between 70 and 120 kb.. i assume the problem is with the phone because when i log onto my mail from a pc the entire attachment is there.

2. When i try to send .jpg files they arrive in the receipients inbox as text

3. .wav files also sometimes arrive in teh receipients inbox as text.

Any suggestions as to how i can fix this. Vodafone have been most unhelpful.

Many thanks in advance.

I use O2 Email on my P900 & it works perfectly. I can send & receive attachment of any size.

Perhaps there is some sort of limitation with your Vodafraud GPRS?

I haven't heard or experienced problems sending and receiving anything on vodafone. I use pay monthly GPRS not prepaid GPRS, though I am not sure if there is any difference anyway

You could try as a workaround zip the file and install jZip or simular on the phone. Might do the trick. (pack the file send to phone unpack on the phone)

I'm not using a prepaid gprs and according to Vodafone there are no limits on attachments. can o2 mail be used on a vodafone account?

Do you think it has something to do with the service provider, or is a p900 issue? I'm a little confused:)

@jenni

You need to try a few things to eliminate the potential causes of the problem: your email set-up, Vodafone email system, etc

I suggest you borrow a friend's O2 sim card and get the GPRS settings from the O2 web site and try using email with this set-up. If it works you know the problem is with Vodafone (remember to use O2's SMTP server). Also I suggest you send the same attachment types from a PC using Vodafone email to your friends and see what happens. If these attachments don't arrive then there is a filter on the Vodafone system causing probelms.

Unfortunately I have sold my P900 but I think there was an option to limit the size of downloads - have you checked this? What I can tell you is that with my P800 and P900 on Orange I was able to send picture attachments without any problems.

Good luck

I've just spoken with the SonyEricsson customer support and they have said that there is a 105kb limit on attachments sent to and from the phone...which is probably causing the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this and is there any way around it...other than the zip function which i'm looking into now..although that doesn't help with receiving files...

@jenni

I know this may not help but this limit does not apply to the P910.

You could try using Opera for web email if Vodafone email has a web option.
