hi there guys...
i'm looking to encode a few of my .avi vids from 700mb to a size that'll fit on my 512mb duo stick comfortably and to play with the best quality i can get on my p910i! i was just wondering wat the best format is the best to encode to...i read that i could use .avi (smartmovie) or mp4 (mpegable x4 live) or even 3gp but which is the best???...
thanx again...

i'd highly recommend smartmovie using xvid.
I've posted elsewhere, but you can fairly accurately predict filesize, remove trailers etc, full screen with all necessary re-coding.
It seems to work well at low bandwidths, although you shouldn't have any problems with a 512mb card.
I've done 40mins video into 30mb and it's more than watchable. (conversion is realtime - 1min conversion per minute video on a 2.6ghz)

smartmovie coverter if you want it very easy- IE click click click its done - - - - - but if u want REALY good results and u dont mind spending a hour or 2 learning then use virtual dub its by far the best in my oppinion and iv used them all - but thats just my oppinion so noone get arsey because i think the others are a bag of poo..
