> SE Centers Shutting Down End Sept?
Bookmark topic
Is this true anyone?
Spoke to cellular audio services @ brighton UK which are the SE Service Center for that area and was told that they will be shutting down the center as of 30th SEPT 2004. He then added that all SE Sevice Centers would be doing the same thing. He was quite abrupt too not giving me the chance to ask why!
Is this true and is it because of the SE Update Sevice being available for all future phones?
Please someone find out cos i need one for a K700i!!!!
Regards AJ @ frostedblue

i think they wan to make it all online!!!
since they have the update online so not much problem with or without se centre
(besides when u need repair or claim warranty only)

I mentioned this in
this thread a few weeks ago but at that time SE customer service denied any knowledge of it.
I have not checked with them again since

I know Eurocom in Blackpool will no longer be a Service Centre after this month so I guess it's true!

Sorry, Didnt see that thread!
Does anyone know anyone that could help with a firmware change from Vodacrap to unbranded SE firmware for k700i. Perhaps a service center that charges or even one that is local to crawley for future reference!
Its a shame about brighton cos ive had fairly good experiences with them for my t68 and p800.

currently no one can unbrand a K700
I just called Sony Ericsson support in uk 08705 237 237 and while they now know this is happening they still have not been told officially and the only suggestion they have is for members with non K700/Pxxx phones that can do online updates is to send the phone to hays with the 2 week return that usualy goes with that
I told them there will be quite a few unhappy people here at that news

Shutting down because of online updates? That's worse than automated phone services. Plenty of people don't have either a pc, a pc that has the right os to update, a docking station, a landline to do the update on a pc, or even the know how to do an update themselves. Terrible!

I find it hard to believe.
SE centers are to repair phones, not to upgrade firmware exclusively.

perhaps they want to centralize the repair centres. Like 1 per country. And we'd need to mail in our phones for repairs.
not a very pleasing prospect
