> P900 Calendar problem - fixed in P910i ?
Bookmark topic
Hi,
Using a P900 now and I have this problem with Calendar (sync from Outlook 2003)
Problem statement -
*Recurring* Appointments scheduled by US colleague (eg 5pm every Thursday Pacific time ~ 8am every Friday Singapore time) shows up as a recurring appointment on 8am every *THURSDAY* (one day earlier) on my P900 (I am in Singapore).
Wondering if this problem occurs with the P910i or alternatively, is there any fix for the P900.
Note: this problem only occurs with *recurring* appointments. Single appointments appear correctly.

Hi,
Download the new PC Suite for the P910 (It works on the P900 and P800) from SE and see if the problem goes away

Downloaded, installed and re-synced (cleared up the Calendar in the P900 first.
Problem still occurs with recurring appointments appearing one day earlier (but at the correct time) on the P900.

i went to the sony ericsson site and looked at the knowledge base and they know of this problem. i would think it is important enough to be something they would alert us too or even fix. but nooo! their idea is that every time we change time zones we are to do a master reset and reinstall all our files. this is crazy. I did try a suggestion from some one to use a file manager program and delete the two files that control the local zone for the sync but what a hassle. why not have the files uploaded every time you sync so that it is never wrong? i think a class action suit is in order here.

There are many bugs in that setup. Best thing not to synch and manually put your stuff in the phone.

Rrrriiiggghhhhtttt ...
Sorry, but that won't work for me as the volume of appointments and changes I have to make negates all productivity that I could possibly gain by having a handy reference on my phone without needing to crack open the laptop.

Time zones are a big hassle, mainly that Outlook and the phone have different ways of approaching them.
If I change the timezone on my PC, I get the following effect in Outlook: ALL MEETINGS MOVE AROUND. Which is highly annohing, as I book meetings based on the time where I will be when it happens. 12.00 Monday in London is put as 12.00, no timezone compensation for the one-hour diff to CET. Synching at this point creates chaos in the phone.
If I change the timezone on the P900, MEETINGS DO NOT MOVE. Which is a behavior I like.
My solution to this has been fairly simple: when traveling, change the clock but not the timezone on my PC. This keeps synch working.
Manual synch is not an option with a volume of 20+ appointments of various types each week.
To clarify: I think the bad behavior here is actually in Outlook, as it does stupid things like taking an "all day appointment" for a day and moving it one hour, creating a silly meeting lasting from "23.00 to 23.00", spanning two days. and destroying the point of having notes attached to days and not particular times within these days.
