The Phone Connection link does not react at all when I connect my phone. When I remove it Com port 4 changes state to "connecting"
Firewall is off, Phone monitor has Com 4 enabled and reserved and phone connection link has only com 4 checked.
I have done a master reset and reformatted the internal drive (via the hidden service menu) re-installed the PC Suite supplied on the CD with the phone. None of this has helped.

Take the reserve off for that com port in phone monitor, that should fix your problem.
The pxxx phones don't use phone monitor, they use phone connection link only, and because you have the port reserved to phone monitor, phone connection link cannot use it
I'm fairly sure thats the reason anyway

my problem is different when i plug the phone into the cradle the pc shows connected everything apart from backup works fine until i remove the p800 and put it back phone connection monitor shows connected but the phone icon doesnt show on the task bar and when i go to the my p800 icon it shows disconnected
