well the benchmark tests on S700i report that it has 65356 colours so maybe its a limitation in the software?

@all:

SMan reports the screen color depth and almost everything in the SysInfo by using a class library found in Symbian that identifies itself. This means that we do not do any low-level test to see if the information provided is correct.

It's like asking a person what his/her name is and we gladly accept it as what they tell us is their name. We do not "interogate" the person. The library does the same, SMan asks what color-depth does the screen have and if the Symbian library reports 65535 colors, we take it at face value that it's 65535 colors, no tests done.

The guilty party is SE as they did not update that piece of information. It could also have been for compatibility reasons and a few programs might not want to work outside their designed parameters. Much like the P800/P900 and some games directly accessing the hardware and colors just came out bad!

Be glad that SE reports the wrong color depth only, the Motorola's report that it is not a Quartz device (ie. UIQ) but a Crystal device (look it up on the net, too long to detail it in here).

The UUID for the A920/A925/A1000 is also all identical and we have been having so much problems identifying the correct model and enable/disabling the relevent devices.

Hope this explains everything.
