You have 640 pixels width x 480 pixels height

So 640 x 480 = 307200 pixels

To convert to Mega pixels divide two times by 1024 (1M = 1024K, 1K = 1024 x 1)

307200 / 1024 / 1024 = 0.2929

Rounding you get 0.3 MPixels

Hope you get it now.

This is just the way to calculate how many MPixels the cam has.

I don't know what's the width and height of K500 pics.

DO YOUR OWN MATH!

K500i is the same as the K700i at VGA quality or 0.3 Megapixel.

@liamski - Not a silly question after all mate, your guess of 0.8 MP is quite very near with the correct answer of 0.3 MP mate ! Welcome aboard too !

You can get the MCA25 camera attachment for the T230 which takes photos that are the same resolution (VGA) as the K500i and K700i.

Don't forget the K700 also has the interpolation feature which takes the picture size up to 1280 x 960 pixels (1.17MP)! Remember though this still won't have the quality of a true MP camera.

I don't know if the K500 has this feature
