> P910i battery life
Bookmark topic
Had the P910i for 2 weeks now and the battery life is appalling - max 2 days. Also, the battery meter doesn't work which might indicate a real problem.
What sort of batter life should I get with moderate 'flip open' usage?
Any known problem such as this?
Appreciate your help. Great handset BTW just want to be able to enjoy it!

On my P900 two days with moderate use, half day with extreme use. Turn off screen saver to help a little bit, and make sure you close out any apps. not in use. These apps run in the background and take up juices.

My P910 battery life is slightly better than I had with my P900. With my normal use I get between 2 and 2.5 days usage, this is when the P910 is on ALL the time. I typically make about 10 calls, read about 30 mins of ebooks, listen to about 6 mp3s, WAP & web browsing for about an hour and use some of the office apps a little. I don't use Tracker or Handyday but I use BT for about 25 hours and use this for all my calls.
Some tips to stop battery drain:
- reduce the number of apps in RAM
- turn-off the permenant GPRS connection (use GSM only mode that enables GPRS when it is needed, Control Panel/Connections/Internet Connections/Other)
Also remember that your batteries performance will impove a little over time. ALso remember to condition your battery early in its life (run down to 15/10% and leave to charge overnight about 3 to 5 times)

Thanks for the response altho it wasn't what I wanted to hear ;-(
What does the 400 hours standby and 13 hours talk time in the P910 specs refer to - just flip closed phone use?
I have shut off GPRS etc as you advised so I'll see what I get with that.
Regarding the non working battery meter - any idea if I should have the phone replaced cos of that? Will it be interfering with my battery life or is it just an inconvenience?
Thanks again.

Try to run down the battery to nil and then charge for 14 hours. If you still have problems with the battery meter then take the P910 back to the shop where you bought it and ask for another battery to see if the meter works. If it does work then you have a faulty battery. If the meter does not work then you have a faulty phone.

You can prolong battery life quite a bit via the display control panel. Under Power, use the Adjust brightness button to lower your screen brightness. Even at 50% brightness, screen still very usable.

Ok, thanks for the advice - I will try that after the upcoming 14 hour re-charge.
My handset was (I think - difficult to tell without the battery meter working) fully charged Friday lunchtime and is still going strong on Monday morning altho the 'status' is still showing 100% battery! I'm trying to keep the flip closed to see what I can get using just as a phone.

OK, I fully discharged the battery then give it 14 hours re-charge - same problem, no battery meter - well, it's there but just says either 0% or 100% and the icon has no green 'mercury' showing.
Now managed to try an alternative P900 battery and YES the battery indicator is working.
So, can I assume, do you think, that my original battery is the (only) problem? I have to decide whether to return the handset for replacement and I am overseas at the moment. I have to return it within another 14 days to get a replacement which would mean a DHL courier job!
Appreciate your continued assistance.

If you are certain it is the battery, I would spend £30 on a new battery rather than pay £20 for DHL; this way you can use the "faulty" battery as a back-up battery. I personally cannot live my life without my P910 (and my P900 before the P910) even for 3/5 days!
