> DSS-25 = USB + Firmware?

I know the DSS-25 has the ability to download firmware updates off the SE Webpage, but i haear also that you can use it to upload and download files from the phone...like pics, ringtones...whatever.
Im getting a K700i and dont want to get both the DSS-25 and a USB Cable if i dont need to.

Yeah, you can use it for file transfering, but my computer with phone connected to DSS-25, doesn't reconize my k700, while my P900 does. But if you only want to use DSS-25 for file transfer, better buy bluetooth for computer, coz it is much faster.

Basicailly i want to be able to Upgrade my phone when needed and Transfer files to and from my phone in the most cost efficent way...

Ive tried doing a search on EBay for a DSS-25 but the only ppl selling them are international and wont ship to the US. I can buy one fro direct sigts that sell them for about $50.
But Regular USB Cables are cheaper...like $5-$15, but i would like to be able to update my phone also.

you can also use dss-25 to transfer files to and from your K700 - if software is installed correct - it will reckognize the phone.
however as someone else mentioned - any usb-connection (dss-20/25 or standard cable) is very slow because it uses a seriel emulation - max speed is 115.000bps which is about the same as a 56.6 modem.
For faster filetransfer you need a bluetooth dongle - speeds on that are 4-5 times faster when comunicating with the K700.

the DSS-25 is a docking station. If you goto
www.ebay.com and put in DSS-25 you will see what it is. Thats the only way it seems (other than going to a service center) to update the phone.
Once you get the DSS-25 its just a matter of navagating the SE websigh and finding the right firmware to upload into the phone.
