A mate has just bought a K700 but has been told by his local Vodafone store "it simply cannot be set up to act as an Ir modem with his Dell Laptop" I orignaly posted the problem in the GPRS forum
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=70608#post929554 but did not get any answers!
I really find it hard to belive you cannot get a K700 to act as a modem or am I wrong and Vodafone stores correct? and does it really matter if it's a K700 or a K700i as I was told by a very unhelpful voda help desk operator?
Any help gratefully accepted

@Nitro Fan
My K700 allows my laptop to connect to the Internet quite well. I should perhaps mention that I use a Bluetooth connection, I have never tried it using IR, but I wouldn't have thought that that would present a problem.

K700 is released as both i and c (K700i & K700c), where i stands for international, and c for chinese... So your voda helpdesk operator can take a long walk on a short pier

I have experienced too often that imbessile helpdesk operators stutter away on issues thay have absolutely no information about. Or no knowledge! So much for HELPdesk...

Agreed the latest load of nonsence advice given to my mate is "you will have to downgrade to a less complicated device such as a T630!" that was the phone he allready had! so he said "OK can I have a refund and give me a T630" they said no "there is nothing wrong with your K700" he retorted "but it wont connect with my laptop" the answer "tough luck mate"! Tech Support? If brains were dynamite they would not have enough to blow their hat off!
Vodafone I hope you read this site the guy owns a big company and spends thousands with you every year!! keep this rubbish up and you wont keep his money much longer!
