> Still no PXX0 internal backup software?

I have read around and cannot find anyone with on-phone backup software, I know I can start the phone in backup mode from my PC and cancel it to manually copy the Contacts and Agenda, but unless I am near a PC cannot restore these files.
Has nobody found decent onboard backup software yet? My Sony Clie had onborad backup software that did this very thing but so far I have been unable to find any for the PXX0 range.

onboard backup kind of defies the logic of a back up with theese phones. if it f**ks upo its not going to boot so you cant get the data thats beeen backed up, You'd need a extra storage drive which is the same capacity as the C: on a pXXX phone. so no software will ever be availble to do this.

well when my phone "f***ed" up i still had all of my files on the ms duo so i guess that wouldn't be a problem considering that it has more than enough space.....
i mean a backup would (i guess) only pack and store the files on a ms duo and then you could easily unpack them when you get it repaired....
i think it's a good idea considering i often can't be arsed to do a backup via the ultra fast usb cable....

I travel a lot and am not very often in a position to back my P910i up on a PC, by On-Phone backup software I mean software that will let me back the entire (or selected) contents of my Phone onto a MS.
This is already possible on Sony Clie PDA's and shouldn't be too difficult a problem to solve on a phone.
basically it only needs to back anything up that is not native to the Phones ROM in reset mode. IE: Phonebook Calendar etc. then if I have a problem I can reset the phone and install the restore software from the MS and restore the backup (which is how it works from MS on a Sony Clie)
Obviously it would be difficult (and fairly pointless) to backup the phones C: drive to C:
@JuggyD
I can see the point that if the phone is completely goosed and unbootable it can't be rstored by online backup software. but by definition it can't be restored by PC restore software either, however if I have a good backup I can buy another P910i and restore the settings / phonebook / calendar etc. onto the new phone without having to go home to my PC.
If my phone is playing-up or getting full of junk I can master re-set the phone and just restore the contacts etc. I also keep the software I use most commonly on a spare MS so I could even re-install most of my useful apps.

You're describing something like Norton Ghost, but for UIQ.
Although this functionality is supported in PC Suite, I wish there was something that could just backup everything that would be transferred during a sync. I think a full backup might take up too much space on D:, but a sync-like backup would be nice.

This would be most useful for Mac users who have absolutely no way of backing up their phone. My contacts and appointments are fine but I had my P910 updated 10 days ago and lost all my configs. My phone has since died (does not boot) and I will reloose everything fo a second time. I cannot really accept that every time I update the phone, I loose some very long and complex configs from all third parties apps I might have.

Orange customers get a backup program pre installed on the p910i which creates a backup on a remote Orange server. I havent investigated this further as I didnt fancy paying any gprs charges. I ended up uninstalling it
