Please Answer/Confirm
I am hopping that someone with a P910 can tell me if they can pass SMS messages from their Apple Macintosh computer to the P910 via bluetooth. The P900 did not have the AT command set over bluetooth enabled, so this functions was not available.
If anyone has found a good way to pass text via bluetooth to their Mac running OS X, please speak up.
I don't understand why this feature works with every SE phone, but not their most expensive and feature packed model (P900/P910). Strange?
Peace
Cyko
P.S. Anybody actually bought one in Hong Kong yet??? What is the price and what are they offering for tradeins in MongKok for P900???

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work.
The reason is that P800/900/910 run on a completely different operating system to the rest of SonyEricssons phones and this operating system doesn't have the required features...

Hey, you can't send text with the P910i, I tried too but its the same problem with the P800 and P900. It is to do with the fact that the phone is symbian based. isync works well, although a P910i logo does not appear on it.

Thanks Gabster and JoolsG3,
I understand your Symbian OS comments, but if the phone can send a contact, a spreadsheet, a jpeg, etc. etc. via bluetooth, it seems rather lame that Sony can not get it to send SMS text via bluetooth. Especially after revising this phone for the 3rd time.
I guess I am stuck with my P900. Without bluetooth to SMS, I really can't see any reason to upgrade. I have never needed more memory, the keyboard is not necessary, and I already have paid for the improved applications that are now bundled.
I really wanted to buy this phone, too bad SE doesn't understand it's customers. Of the 11 people I know with a P900, all 11 say that SMS via bluetooth is one of the most important features they require in a phone, and none of them will upgrade until this feature is added.
Regards
Cyko

How have you managed to use i-sync with your P910 when Apple say it is not supported yet?I have been trying to get it to work but I can't.

Hmm... there are PC apps that allow you to send an SMS from your PC through your phone. Maybe someone just needs to write a program for the Mac.
And regarding iSync... my friend was able to sync her contacts with iSync and her P900... nothing other than pairing it was required.
Dunno what else iSync is supposed to get from the P-series phones... but it seems to be more a lack of Mac software issue than the fault of the P-series.

@cykomon
The reason you can transfer data, i.e. Excel, Word, photos, etc... is because this is happening via OBEX over BT. This is different than sending AT commands to the phone via BT. It seems that Symbian does not support this feature and from the look of things, it never will. This is one of the main reasons I dumped my P900 and bought a Palm device with with a keyboard. Nothing in life is perfect.
P.S. As for iSync, my P900 worked perfectly. It is a matter of Apple adding the Pxxx series to the files needed to make this function properly. Go over to the Apple site and there you will find ALL the info you need about this issue.

But what about using Address Book's bluetooth connection option of your paired phone to send SMS? If you can pair your p900 to your mac, you should be able to send whatever you want. Click and hold on a mobile phone number from your address book and it should let you send SMS. Been doing it with my T68i until my fingers ache from typing SMS on my powerbook.
I haven't received my p910 yet (can't wait... Nov. 10!) but I see no reason why it should not work.
Has anybody tried that?

@Fink_Ployd and others.
The P900, P9xx and other symbian phones WILL NOT allow you to send SMS messages via ANY computer. Symbian doesn't support it. If its not supported, it will not work.. no matter whether your non symbian phone can achieve it or not.
It won't work, it doesn't work and it will never work on *current* symbian phones. No matter what OS you have on your computer.
Clearer?
one more time: it won't work. period.
