Hey guys,

I just got my S700i which I bought off Vodafone (for the cheap price). The problem is ... once again, I can't play mp3 as ringtones, same as the nice K700i. Looks like Vodafone have done it again, but this time it says it in the manual for the actual phone, something about Copyright songs only can be used as ringtones. When I look at one of the MP3s that came with the phone, I can use that as a ringtone, but when I checkout the file it has extension .dcf and something about being 'Activated'. Does anybody know how to get normal MP3s to play as ringtones?

Thanks mucho,

A!

@Arnaudt

If you bought your S700 within the last two weeks you should be able to take it back and cancel your contract (in the UK anyway), you could then get a S700 on O2.

Well actually this may be your lucky day......

I remember reading on one of the forums, I forget if it was Esato or another phone site that if you download from the Sony Ericsson Developer site a program called DRM.... (forgot the rest of the name) that you can edit MP3 files to include Digital Rights Management.

This will then allow you to play them on your phone, when you use this program apparently it changes the .mp3 to something else.

Works on later Vodafone K700's and should work on S700.
Have a look around the forum or try Howardforums, Mobileburn
