Can you enlighten me on what to buy in terms of speed of data transfer and it's versatility functions and ease of use. In case I change cellphone model, can I still use it . My purpose is to manage my phone memory wisely and optimize it's features.
Help me decide! Thanks

use a cable if you want your phone to be attached to the pc. Use IR if you don't want to move around (sit very still and don't touch your phone or pc/laptop) use bluetooth whenever aviable. but don't move beyond a 10feet or connection might get unstable. As for speeds: Most (serial) connections (including bluetooth and IR) are limited to 115200 bits/s or way less, so fastest would be a usb connection (not a connection to a searial port (com1) also limited to 115k2)

bluetooth is the fastest and probably the cheapest, £5-29 depending on whether you get 10m-100 range and if you get it from a store or from ebay?

Some posts mention that the DCU-11 cable is slower compared to IR. Not sure about DSS-20/25 though. IMO, Bluetooth is the fastest and the most convenient to use for data transfer, but I'm apprehensive as I notice that it drains the battery faster than other methods.

I think everyone agrees IR is not an option if you have the choice or other means of connection. Btw you should never update rom/fw using IR.

Buy a

dongle. It's fast, comfortable, easy to use and compatible, so when you change phone, then you can still use it as long as it will have

.

Go get yourself a Bluetooth Dongle pal! The IR thing will jus be a thing of the past, in a couple of years dude . . . Hmmm . . . wait a minute, I've read somewhere that SE will remove the Bluetooth feature on it's future mobile fone releases ?

I doubt SE will stop making phones with bluetooth. Not having bluetooth on their smartphones would be pretty damn stupid, wouldn't it?
Anyway, I suggest you go for bluetooth. Due to circumstances I'm currently using a DRS-11 serial cable, and it takes quite a while for files to get to and from the phone. Also, the average bluetooth dongle costs a fraction of what a cable costs, and it'll work with any future non-se bluetooth phones you might buy as well.

Well I doubt it too mate

But I guess this issue or report has just been officially released by SE itself, it has also been posted (report) here at Esato dude . . . Bluetooth connectivity surely is one of the best invented fone's feature to date - I guess? As it surpassed the capabilities of IR technology !
