is an adaptor for a dual sim available for se phones specifically t68i? my friend used one some time ago in his nokia 3210 and i'm wondering if there are any of the kind available to us. how does it work anyway? can you receive calls/text messages from the other sim while it's non-active? is there an advantage?

I have an twin SIM adaptor in this phone. I bought it on eBay. It has the advantage of being straight-forward to change between service providers. Only one SIM is active at a time. The only drawback is I have to manually change my GPRS and SMS settings.

This dual sim things on celfones are so famous during the latte r part of the 90's . . . Though some of the folks that I know of tells me that it is causing some damage with their fones at times, because it changes networks operations when making some switch !

Most switch SIMs when you turn the phone off then on. This could be annoying if you need to turn it off but NOT switch SIMs!
Some have a little switch to change between SIMs but these can damage the phone as they send a surge through the circuits!
None of the can run both SIMs at the same time so I personally see far more drawbacks than the one advantage!
I would suggest you just use two handsets as I do.

with the ones I have used, if you switch the phone off for more than a minute or two then next time you switch the phone on it will use the sim card you last used.
Only when you switch off and on quickly will it change sims

Though I just find it akward and silly for people (no offense here dudes) who uses 2 sims . . . that is if they don't trust-100% on either one of the local networks that they are using . . . As it is very rare for these networks to go down, or even just on temporary stand-by due to technical repairs, as they have back-up solutions or contingency plans if ever !

I use 5 SIM's and it isn't a metter of trust, it's just because of my job that keeps me moving from one city to another, and to be honest roaming costs are just too high, so I have a SIM on avery mayor city I travel to, and that keeps me available without the extra costs of roaming.
BTW I don't trust dual SIM's, I preffer to swith them every time I change of city.

wow.. asterix.. that is a lot of sims... bet they cudnt find an adaptor for his needs... our local service provider had an option of having two numbers on a single sim.. when ever you sitch on the phone it asks you the number to be used.. i have their pamphlet here somewhere.. when i find it i will scan it and post it here...
