> Right, anything I should know about O2?

Hi there
I've found a deal through mobileshop.com for a S700 on O2 for £160 (400mins, 50txts etc..)
Before I hand over my hard earned cash, from your wealth of experiences, is there anything (positive or negative) I should know about O2? I am currently with Vodafone (thru Singlepoint) and the signal is great but am concerned I'll have an inferior service from O2?
any help appreciated!

I've been with O2 formerly BTCellnet for years and never really had any problems with them at all. Signal is great, phones are provided unlocked and the least branded of any of the networks.
However, recently they seem to have outsourced their first line Customer Support to India, and they are clueless about anything other than simple account related queries.
Even so, if I was getting a new phone tomorrow, I'd still choose O2 over any of the other networks. For me their tariffs etc. are the best and I've never had any technical problems.

O2 phones are generally provided unlocked, and as someone else has said they are the least branded phone of the main 4 UK networks.
A couple of things I've found - they don't do text message delivery reports, which I'm a big fan of, although as a workaround you can type *0# at the start of a text to 'force' a delivery report to be sent back to you. Their customer services aren't free, and although I've so far had no real problems, many people have said that it's a total nightmare! Their billing and organisation seems a little chaotic, my bill often is late.
Their signal I've found where I live (Midlands) has a wider coverage but with a lower general signal (i.e. I get a signal most places, but often only at 1-3 bars).
I have to admit that I'd go back to Orange if their signal whre I live was a little better - their customer services were free, could access my bill online better than O2, delivery reports, they just have the edge over O2.

The great thing about O2 is that the phones are as unbranded as they get. Vodaphone is the worst offender when it comes to shafting up the firmware, so avoid them like the plague!
