After reading the K700i unbranding thread I'm thinking of buying this cable:

Will this allow me to update the firmware on my phone and also update using SEs website?

It does say its for a K700i but doesn't say it can do flashing/unlocking type operations.

If not can someone give me a link for somewhere that sells the correct cable cheaply?

No, that's not the correct cable, thats for editing the address book and transferring files.

That cable will work with TOTAL Mutiserver but not the SE Online Update. For that you'll need an original SE DSS-20 or DSS-25

you certainly cannot use it for online update. As has been said many times you need a DSS-20 or DSS-25 sync station, nothing else will do. its the same rule for P900 update too

here are the ones currently available on ebay

I believe the debranding thread says you need to T28 cable which, again, is something different. there are some here
