Hi, I had an HCB30 installed in my car today and has the genuine T630 cradle installed also as well as having the power supply hard wired in. All sounds great so far I hear you say....... The installer unfortunatly got the power supply wires reversed. The instant I slotted my trusty T630 into the cradle it went pop. Foolishly I thought I should try my wife's T630 just in case my phone was faulty and that went pop too.
If I take these phones to a SE service point / repair centre can they fix tem. Is there a fuse that might have blown or have I just killed to perfectly good phones.
All advice taken.
Thx
Carl

It's definately down to the people who installed the car kit!

Listen mate... The same thing happend to my FOne.. i didnt have the original charger .. but i wanted to charge my fone desperately.. so i charged it and it went POP.. but my fone was under warranty.. so i took my mobile to the service center.. complained to them that their was something rong with THE CHARGER ( I borrowed A original p900 chargerfrom my friend) MINE WAS BROKEN by me.. i told them ur charger or mobile is not working.. i got a brand NEW p900 replaced by them and a Brand NEw Charger replaced by them.. so do the same.. take the original charger to ur service center.. and ur fones.. and complain to them that u had some probs wid charger sso u charged both of them.. they have to replace it.. they hav no option.. BUT THIS only works if u HAVE UR FONE UNDER WARRANTY..

well if the phone warranty does not cover this I'd say the installer of the kit has to compensate..... it's their fayult your phones broke after all.

did you test your phone before the last time you turned it on? I don't think so...

how was he supposed to test the car kit other than putting a phone in it? Seems like the only way I can think of.
I wouldn't even mess around with your phone warranty, I would take this up with the shop that put the car kit in. No doubt in my mind they should replace the phones. If not, I think you have a pretty solid law suit. If they don't cover it then there was no reason to pay someone to install it. Any punk can install something incorrectly, you pay professionals to do it right.

Yeah it should definately be their cost. I don't see why SonyEricsson should foot the bill through warranty when its no fault of theirs meanwhile the cowboys who fit the car kit wrong get away scott free!
