It seems they've taken it out to play with it or to show other customers

I've bought a couple of phones just recently(one from link, and cpw),and the boxes have been opened.they told me it was routine, due to the fact that people were returning phones and suggesting accessories like sims, batterys and other parts were absent.don't worry too much mate.just make sure the call timers, screen film, etc are fine. If I go to a shop I always insist on a sealed box but as said previously, most have been opened just to show cutomers in the shop. If the phone is still sealed in its bag with the little SE sticker & screen label looks to have not been moved then visually inspect everything to ensure no marks/scrathes etc & you should be OK.

Same for the battery is that still sealed in its bag. Oh yes, make sure your battery is a 1260MAh version as one shop once tried to sell me an "open box" P900 and the battery had been switched to the lower power 1000MAh battery!!!

Athough I dont have a p910, but it should be a standard procedure for it to be sealed. The guy is right, you should always insist for a sealed package esp. phones! But then again every shop has its own rules.

I work for a UK dealer, and we buy in sim free, unlocked handsets from the 2 largest suppliers in Britain.

None of the handset boxes are sealed in any way and only SE seal the little bags inside.

Only supplier branded handsets (o2 xda, sharp gx and any orange handsets) are security sealed.

As already stated in the thread, check the phone thoroughly for call logs, timers etc, even photos on a camera phone.

With the P910 and other smartphones, also check that when you switch it on, you get the 'handset set up' wizard. If not, the handset has previously been used and this wizard has been skipped.

Many thaanks for all these replies! I had a P910i voda branded, and the box was sealed. Just recieved a unbranded P910i from CPW, and the box was not sealed. I have visually checked the phone and packagings, looks fine, and the littel SE sticker was there, undamage. Also the start up wizard started as I switched the phone one for the first time, and the first option was to choose language (same as the sealed voda P910i I recieved), so I think it must be ok. I will check the call log and timer thought.

I would only take an unsealed one if they offered an additional discount as is standard practise with any display goods, in any industry.

Open or sealed, as long as the contents are complete and still intact, also should come with a warranty! No problems then mates !

@meths - it's not standard practise in the mobile industry, otherwise you would all have to buy a phone, in order to see it, unless you work for a dealer!

@danielwong - if there is anything wrong with it (which there shouldn't be) you can take it into a store and exchange it within 28 days.
